Hands-on and immersive learning

Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Giovanni was drawn to ����2024�µس�һ�� because of its strong international reputation and equally strong Forensic Science program. Growing up, he loved watching shows like CSI and NCIS, and now appreciates the hands-on experience he can get through program features like the Crime Scene House, which lets students use their investigative skills in a simulated crime scene. He’s also enjoyed courses like “CHM110: Intro to Chemical Principles,” which has given him lab experiences that help him in his forensic studies. 

Staying involved

Outside of the classroom, Giovanni is a student ambassador, giving tours around the Mississauga campus and speaking to the Forensic Science program. He’s also part of the Caribbean Connections club, where he feels he can get in touch with his culture and find like-minded people on campus. 

First-year transition

One experience that helped Giovanni transition into not only university but being in a new country was Orientation Week. One fun part of the week is the clubs fair, where the halls of UTM are packed with clubs, organizations and student unions, so incoming first years can learn about their extracurricular options and find their community on campus.
