An unexpected passion
Erin was drawn to 草榴2024新地扯一二 by the flexibility of the Arts and Science program, as it allowed her to more freely explore her passions and study multiple disciplines. She entered university thinking she would pursue Psychology, but ultimately discovered an interest in Linguistics.
The do-it-all student
Outside of her studies, you can find Erin leading a tour to prospective students around campus, working the front desk of the Office of Student Recruitment, mentoring other international students at the Centre for International Experience (CIE), fulfilling her duties as Social Events Coordinator for the Society of Linguistics Undergraduate Students (SLUGS), or participating in community and campus theatre.
Interdisciplinary courses
One of Erin鈥檚 favourite parts of her studies is how interdisciplinary the courses are. Courses for her Drama major like 鈥淒RM360 - Race, Gender & Performance鈥 and 鈥淒RM388 - Dancing Black in Canada,鈥 provided a critical sociological lens on broader themes in theater. In the latter class, taught by a professor who was a pioneer in the field of Black dance in Canada, students analyzed race relations through dance. By exploring where Black music and dance historically was and wasn鈥檛 allowed, through a lens of sociology and anthropology, students gained a deeper and more nuanced understanding of all groups in theatrical history.

"Use the resources available to you and don鈥檛 be afraid to ask questions - there is no such thing as a 鈥榙umb鈥 question."
