Landing in Toronto 

Having lived in both New Delhi, India and Vancouver, BC, Riya was eager to explore a new corner of the world and find independence in a new province. She was also drawn to the job opportunities and networking possibilities provided by the Daniel’s Faculty of Architecture. For example, the faculty invited students to visit an architecture firm in the city during reading week and mingle with professionals in the field.

Inspiring Professors 

One of Riya’s favourite classes so far has been “ARC281: Structures, Building Systems, and Environments I,” which was taught by the structural engineer of ����2024�µس�һ��’s very own Goldring Athletic Centre. Riya enjoyed learning from someone who was able to use real world examples of her own work, and noted that she went the extra mile, always staying open to questions. Another highlight of the class was its collaborative nature, allowing students to work together on quizzes and assignments, building practical teamwork skills they will eventually use in the workplace. 

Outside the Classroom

Outside of the classroom, you can find Riya leading campus tours, fulfilling her duties as president of the Students Tea Party club (STEEP) and listening to music, specifically Chase Atlantic.

What's next...?

Having secured a previous summer internship, Riya plans to take a gap year working at the firm she interned with last summer, before eventually pursuing a Master's of Architecture.
