Unique Courses
Simon鈥檚 study of Philosophy wasn't just limited to old texts - many of his courses examined philosophical ideas through a modern lens. One impactful course for him was 鈥淧HL369: Philosophy of Race, Gender and Capitalism,鈥 which incorporated contemporary political issues into lessons. Simon liked that 鈥測ou could really see theory and the way it allowed you to read real life phenomena in an enlightening way. It deepened my thinking about everyday things.鈥
Teaching Experience
One of Simon鈥檚 favourite academic experiences was the Socrates Project, where he both worked as a Teaching Assistant for PHL100, the Introduction to Philosophy course, and completed a research project under the supervision of a professor, ultimately resulting in a research paper. He says this project improved his communication and time management skills, and helped him master the Philosophy curriculum he鈥檇 already learned, by teaching it to younger students.
Relaxation Through Music
Seeking a balanced lifestyle and a way to destress outside of classes, Simon joined the Hart House Chamber Strings. He reflects on his time with the club, saying, 鈥渋t was a relaxing experience that gave me a chance to play Violin every Monday and participate in bi-annual recitals; it calmed my mind and allowed me to de-stress.鈥

鈥淕o to office hours - it can be intimidating at first but always pays off in the end鈥
