Hidden Gem Classes
While Stephanie loved her Commerce degree, it鈥檚 sometimes the electives or breadth courses that end up being fan favourites. One such class, 鈥淩LG106: Happiness,鈥 was just that for Stephanie, as students learned about and explored the definition of happiness in different cultures and religions. The professor provided the class with a collaborative environment where they could talk abt religions and how they contribute to society, and students watched documentaries to learn more. They also explored how companies marketing certain products and governments portraying religions affected views on religion and happiness. She enjoyed the class because it gave her a new perspective that she didn鈥檛 think about in finance.
Landing an Internship
In the summer after her third year, Stephanie landed an internship at the National Bank of Canada as a Trading and Prime Brokerage Summer Analyst. In this role, she worked with institutional clients and lent money when needed. She felt the fast-paced and high-pressure nature of the role prepared her well for her current job at a big four consulting firm.
Studying Abroad
Since most of Stephanie鈥檚 undergrad experience was affected by Covid, she took it upon herself to accomplish something she鈥檇 always wanted to do in university - study abroad. So after she graduated, in the Summer of 2023, she spent a few months first in Spain, studying Art History and later in Italy studying Italian Culture. In Spain, the professor teaching the class was himself an artist, so Stephanie and her peers were able to experience firsthand what the art scene was like there. They also visited several museums and the abroad program planned social events in the evening so students could get to know each other. In Italy, Stephanie and her peers attended an annual horse riding competition in Sienna, learned about topics like food, family, politics, art, movies, and visited cafes, restaurants and bars in other cities like Florence, Rome, and Verona.
Since Graduating...
Stephanie now works as a consultant at PwC.

鈥淏e proactive, put yourself out there and join clubs - it鈥檚 good way to make friends and find opportunities!鈥
