Don鈥檛 back down from a challenge
One of Lan鈥檚 favourite courses so far has been 鈥淢AT240: Linear Algebra,鈥 which she鈥檚 enjoyed because of its theoretical nature and rigour. As a student who likes to challenge herself, she鈥檚 found that these foundational courses have taught her how to think creatively to solve difficult problems, which has paid off in other courses.
Volunteering experience
In her free time, Lan volunteers for UTM Move, a club that helps out with cleaning up walking trails around the Mississauga campus and the GTA. Not only does this provide Lan with a sense of fulfilment, but it鈥檚 also given her a community on campus and helps her clear her head through being in nature.
Run Club
An avid runner, Lan has loved being a part of the Run Club, on the St. George campus. Since this club isn鈥檛 on her home campus, she鈥檚 been able to meet a whole new community of people while keeping her mind and body healthy. The club hosts runs every week and weekend and runs (no pun intended) year-round, even in the summer semester. This consistency has been beneficial for Lan, who is now gearing up to run a marathon in Mississauga.

"Embrace the collaborative nature of university and don鈥檛 be afraid to ask for help."
